Do your higher-level undergraduate courses at IUPUI pique your interest? Consider pursuing an accelerated bachelor’s to master’s degree program, which will allow you to double count 9-12 graduate course credits towards both your bachelor’s and a master’s degree during your senior year! An accelerated program saves you both time and money, and increases your earning potential post-graduation.
- According to research, those with a master’s degree will earn 22% more annually than those with a bachelor’s degree.1
- IUPUI offers many graduate degrees required and relevant to the current and future U.S. workforce. As of September 2020, of the top 27 occupations expected to grow in workforce much faster than the average and pay more than $80k/year, more than half require a graduate or professional degree, and IUPUI offers many of those degrees.2
- Quality and excellence at IUPUI has been recognized in the 2021’s U.S. News & World Report! The Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs’ Non-profit management MPA ranked #3, and the Indiana University School of Nursing’s Online Nursing Education MSN program ranked #4!3 Both of these top-ranked graduate programs can be pursued through an accelerated degree option.
- Ensure this is the right step for you by discussing the accelerated degree with your undergraduate advisor and/or the graduate program director.
- Next complete the school’s internal accelerated program application/declaration in your 3rd year of undergraduate study.
- Schedule frequent meetings with your undergraduate advisor in your 4th year to ensure you are meeting the program milestones, and continued accelerated track eligibility.
- Make sure you maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, which is required for entrance into our IU and Purdue Graduate School programs at IUPUI.
- Apply for your master’s degree in the fall of your senior year for the admit term AFTER your undergraduate degree is to be awarded.
- The application fee for the master’s program is waived for most programs! Check with your anticipated program to confirm.
If admitted through the internal school accelerated program application you will be classified as an undergraduate with Accelerated status until earning your bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of your bachelor’s degree and processing of your master’s degree application, your student classification is changed to graduate.
You should check individual program websites for program-specific credit hour policies, as well as degree requirements. See the Program Option section below for links to our accelerated degree programs
- You may take 9-12 credit hours of graduate credit during your senior year. Discuss coursework options with the graduate program director for the master’s degree.
- You may overlap 9-12 credit hours for both the bachelor’s and master’s degree. However, graduate coursework taken at the undergraduate level must apply towards graduate program requirements. There are limits to the credits that can be double counted, so connect with the graduate program director before enrolling!
- Before the master’s degrees can be conferred, the academic graduate program must validate/verify that all degree requirements have been met. The undergraduate degree must be awarded as a requirement for the master’s degree.
