Why did you choose graduate school at IU Indianapolis?
Not only did the school offer to pay for the schooling and health insurance, but they also provided the most funding to help my living expenses.
What has been your favorite academic accomplishment since you’ve been here?
I finally got my name on a publication, with some others. Even though I want one alone. I was at least able to contribute substantially enough, on 2 manuscripts, to deserve recognition for both.
What do you enjoy most about life in Indianapolis?
The low-costs of living, compared to other places. In tandem with the diversity of the student body housed within IU Indianapolis.
Please provide some details about your work/research as a graduate student and/or any activities you are involved in.
I am a research assistant for two professors. For one professor, Dr. Saahoon Hong, I am learning machine learning (ai) analyses that can be ran in SPSS and R software. For the other professor, Dr. Virgil Gregory, I am learning about African Americans and black men, which surrounds my dissertation topic. In tandem with working as RA, I also work at the Martin Luther King Community Center as a Wellness Coach for the male clients that enter the agency and as a Field Liaison (Field Instructor) for the intern/practicum students that come to the agency for field experience.
